Sam McMillan

Director

Sam McMillan set up the company in 2015 and has over 10 years of parliamentary and public affairs experience – having worked in the Scottish Parliament and for a public affairs agency in Scotland.

He has helped develop and lead public relations and public affairs campaigns for a number of companies and organisations – ranging from small-budget charity campaigns to large multi-million pound developments. The diverse mix of clients and sectors has allowed Sam to work with clients in all of Scotland’s 32 local authorities as well as in the Scottish Parliament and Westminster.

When not working on a project or attending a conference, Sam can be found planning his next music festival, climbing a munro, lamenting his football team or attempting photography.

Neil Freshwater

Associate

Neil has 15 years public policy and communication experience in the public, private and third sectors, both in-house and as a consultant.

After working as a parliamentary researcher, he spent three years advising media and public affairs clients, focusing on the property, pharmaceutical and rural sectors as well as representing a number of public bodies. He was also fortunate to work on the London 2012 Olympic bid campaign raising political and media support for the games in Scotland.

He was later appointed policy manager at RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) where he specialised in providing advice to members on public affairs matters around planning reform, rural affairs, energy performance, the private rented sector and land registration. More recently, Neil has worked for membership organisations in the health and higher education sectors both in Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as owning a property business.

He is a graduate of both law and communication and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. Originally from Dundee, he now lives near Kinross where he is leading a campaign to launch a rural community broadband network.
